Arlene Gervin Marie

Arlene MarieArlene Gervin Marie, 93 of formerly of Anita, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Sprankle’s Personal Care Home.

She was born on June 09, 1923 in Big Run, a daughter of the late Henry Olin and Blanche (Bowers) Wineberg.

Arlene was the wife of Carl Cosmo Marie. He preceded her in death in 1965.

Mrs. Marie was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church for over forty years.

She will be fondly remembered for teaching her son Larry to hunt deer. While hunting together she bagged a ten point buck, which Larry will never forget.

Many folks may remember her for her amazing Harmonica playing at various events in Big Run, Mahaffey Camp and Laurelbrooke Landing in Brookville, a talent she enjoyed sharing with others. She also enjoyed playing guitar as well.

She was a fan of the Pirates and Steelers.

Survived by one son, Larry R. Marie and wife Claudia of DuBois; two grandsons, Larry R. Marie Jr., and Edward C. Marie.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Kermit, Lorraine and Alton Wineberg; one sister, Virginia Shirey.

Friends were received from 11-3 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Bob Grimes.

Interment will follow at Anita Community Cemetery, McCalmont Township.
