UPDATE: Multiple Fatalities Reported in Interstate 80 Crash; Roadway Shut Down

13164267_278314789173402_5462510199529857349_n JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – A multi-vehicle accident involving three fatalities shut down a portion of Interstate 80 westbound in Union Township, Jefferson County, for over 5 hours Monday.

DuBois-based State Police say the accident happened around 6:30 p.m. near mile marker 75.6.

“It’s a multi-vehicle, multi-fatality accident,” said a representative with Dubois-based State Police.

Sources say three people were dead upon emergency personnel arrival.

At least three other people were injured in the accident; however, there is no word on their current condition.

Traffic was detoured off at Exit 81 (Hazen) and then back on at Exit 70 (Strattanville) via Route 28 and Route 322.

The roadway reopened around 11:50 p.m.

Officials declined to release additional information.

A press release is expected to be issued by the State Police on Tuesday.
