Bridge to Be Replaced on Route 219 in Washington Township

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – A project to replace the bridge carrying Route 219 over Wolf Run begins this week in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

Single-lane, 24-hour, flagger-controlled traffic will begin on Tuesday on Route 219 between Old Grade Road and Brubaker Road to construct a temporary roadway.  Once the temporary road is finished, both lanes of Route 219 will transfer to the new roadway at a reduced speed limit for the duration of the project.

This $2.8 million bridge replacement project is being constructed by Charles J. Merlo, Inc., and traffic is expected to be on the new bridge by the end of September.

Work includes replacing the bridge and other miscellaneous construction.

PennDot advises drivers to slow down and obey flaggers. Use caution and drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.

Fines are doubled for violations in work zones.
