Charges Held for Court Against Woman Accused of Bringing Drugs into Jail

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — Charges against a woman who is accused of bringing illegal narcotics into the Jefferson County Jail were waived for court.

According to court documents, the case against 22-year-old Chante Ciara McCreary, of Indiana, has been transferred to Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas.

She faces the following charges:

– Prohibited Contraband, Alcohol and Drugs, Brought into Correctional Institution, Felony

– Intentional Possession of Controlled Substance by Person Not Registered, Misdemeanor

– Use/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor

McCreary’s bail was reduced from $25,000.00 cash to $10,000.00 unsecured, and she was released on Tuesday.

According to a criminal complaint, Trooper Perry, of the DuBois-based State Police, took McCreary to the Jefferson County Jail after her arrest from an outstanding warrant in Indiana County.

The complaint states that Trooer Perry, Cpl. Borden and JCJ staff asked McCreary if she had any drugs, and she said she did not.

While she was being searched, an uncapped needle, pills, and a small bag of brown powder were found, the complaint indicates.

Her case is working its way through the court system.
