Charles Machine Inc. Receives Approval for Building Addition

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – Charles Machine Inc. received preliminary approval for a proposed 23,400 sq. ft. building addition in Limestone Township at the Clarion County Planning Commission’s December meeting.

Construction of the new 23,400 sq. ft. machine shop building addition will be on the northerly side of their existing machine shop building. The proposed building addition will be placed on an existing level gravel parking lot area. The existing roadway access will continue to serve the entire development.

On May 18, 2011, preliminary approval was also granted for a 25,000 sq. ft. building addition at the same location as the newly proposed building addition.

The planning department received a letter from Charles Machine dated June 23, 2014, stating that the proposed building addition would not be constructed. At that time, stormwater management settlement basins one and two had been constructed.

Planning received stormwater management plan approval and corrosion and sedimentation control plan approval letters from the Clarion Conservation District dated October 29, 2018, for the new proposed development. Copies of the proposals were forwarded to the Limestone Township supervisors.

In other business, a proposed 6,000 sq. ft. building addition for Robert Forell, in Paint Township, was also granted preliminary approval. The addition is planned for storage use and will be built on an existing gravel parking lot area. Building setbacks exceed the minimum required 40-foot setback distance. Five new parking spaces 10’ x 20’ will serve the building addition. Copies of the plans were forwarded to the paint township supervisors.

During the meeting, Keith Decker, of Beaver Township, was elected to serve another year as chairman of the planning commission. Angela Burtner, of Brady Township, will again serve as vice chairwoman, and Hugh Henry, of Monroe Township, will continue as secretary/treasurer.

Commission members attending the meeting included Keith Decker, Angela, Burtner, Fred Anderson, Joe Burns, Mike Hindman, Eugene Metcalf, Roger Nulph, and Tom Spence.
