CURVE, Pa. – The Altoona Curve dropped the series finale, 9-1, against the Bowie Baysox on Sunday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field in Altoona.

The Curve (47-46) lost three out of four games in the series and are now just 2-9 in 11 games against Bowie (50-43) this season.
The Baysox scored first with two runs in the first inning off of Curve starter Tanner Anderson (Loss, 7-8). With two on and one out, Garabez Rosa and D.J. Stewart hit back-to-back RBI singles to give Bowie a 2-0 lead.
Altoona cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first. Logan Hill hit a sacrifice fly to score Kevin Newman, making it a 2-1 contest, but that was the Curve’s only run of the night.
Bowie added a run in the third inning and extended their lead to 5-1 after Austin Hays hit a two-run homer in the seventh.
In the eighth, the Baysox scored four more runs. Hays hit his second two-run home run of the game and Mike Yastrzemski hit a two-run triple to bust the game open and give Bowie a 9-1 lead.
Yastrzemski finished the night going 4-for-5 and 10-for-19 in the four-game series. Hays drove in four runs and hit his fifth and sixth home runs of the year.
Altoona mustered just six hits on Sunday, with two of them coming from Tomas Morales. The Curve went 8-for-37 (.216) with runners in scoring position in the series.
Altoona is now two games behind the Baysox in the Eastern League Western Division, tied for second place with Erie.
Anderson went 6.2 innings and allowed five runs on eight hits, striking out eight, matching his career high. Jake Brentz allowed two runs on one hit and a walk in 0.1 innings and Miguel Rosario surrendered two runs on two hits with four walks in 2.0 innings.
Bowie starter Lucas Long (Win, 6-3) pitched 7.0 innings and allowed one unearned run on six hits, striking out three. Scott McGough and Jason Garcia each pitched scoreless innings to close out the game.
The Curve will continue the homestand with game one in the three-game series against Harrisburg on Monday. Left-hander Cody DIckson (0-2, 10.97) will get the start for Altoona while right-hander Austin Voth (1-7, 6.38 with Triple-A Syracuse) will get the nod for the Senators. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
