Friday’s High School Softball Roundup: Hanes Helps DCC Beat Curwensville

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. (D9Sports) – Macey Hanes went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, as visiting DuBois Central Catholic rolled past Curwensville, 12-1 in five innings.

Jordy Frank added a pair of hits, including a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Lady Cardinals, who also got two hits, including a double, four RBIs and a run scored from Riley Assalone. Libby Mauer also doubled and singled and scored twice and Alyssa Bittner had a pair of singles, two RBIs and a run scored.

Assalone got the win giving up one unearned run on four hits and a walk while striking out nine.

Bailey Bloom had a double and a run scored for Curwensville, while Hannah Dixon was 2-for-2 with a walk.

FOREST AREA 14, CLARION-LIMESTONE 3, 6 INNINGS

MARIENVILLE, Pa. – Jailia Guzzi was 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double to lead Forest Area to a 14-3, six-inning victory over visiting Clarion-Limestone.

Makiya Bellotti added a pair of hits and three runs scored for the Fires, while Jasmine Ginnery was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and also picked up the complete-game win striking out 11. Cassie Cochran chipped in a hit and three RBIs.

Abby Carl paced C-L going 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Megan Stahlman added a triple.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 11, BROCKWAY 0

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Michelle Gerber tossed a seven-inning no-hitter, as Elk County Catholic went on the road and got an 11-0 win over Brockway.

Gerber walked two and struck out six.

Josie Smith had a pair of doubles while going 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs for ECC, while Jenna Weisner was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI out of the leadoff spot. Emily Evers also had a pair of hits for the Lady Crusaders as did Gerber, who drove in one and scored one, and Emily Wolf, who doubled and drove home three. Brandi Clyde added three hits and three runs scored and Sady VanAlstine had a double and two runs scored.
