James D. “Donald” Knox

James Donald KnoxJames D. “Donald” Knox, 87, Rochester Mills, died Sunday, April 23, 2017, at home.

He was born October 6, 1929, on their family farm in Rochester Mills, a son of the late Marian Ruth (Zener) and Virgil S. Knox.

On October 21, 1950, he married Betty Marie (Shirley) Knox, who survives.

He was a lifetime member of the Covode United Methodist Church.

James worked as a conductor for the B & P railroad for twenty years and for Pierce Transmission Repair for eighteen years.

He enjoyed gardening, mowing grass, and plowing snow.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include three children, Shirley Ann Farmery and husband Dwight of Marion Center, Dennis R. Knox, Sr. and wife Mary Jane of Punxsutawney, and Mark D. Knox and wife Linda of Punxsutawney; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Knox and wife Aileen of Marchand and Kenneth Knox and wife Harriet of Rochester Mills; and a sister, Clara Cressley of Punxsutawney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great granddaughter Taylor Loft, five brothers, Ralph, Harold, John, Charles, and Clark Knox, and four sisters, Martha Jobe, Frances Godo, Ruth Knox, and Erma Knox.

Friends will be received from 4 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, April 25, 2017, and from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2017, at the funeral home, with Pastor Charles Prevot officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Covode.

A funeral luncheon will be held after the committal service at the cemetery at Cloe United Methodist Church

Memorial contributions may be made, in Memory of Mr. Knox, to the American Cancer Society, 26 S. Second St., Suite 102, Clearfield, PA 16830.
