Janet Eileen (Sigworth) Work

Janet Eileen (Sigworth) Work, 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at the Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA.

She was born on January 6, 1938, to the late William Harold and Leone (Horne) Sigworth in Summerville, PA. She graduated from the Summerville Joint High School and on July 19, 1958, she married Ralph D. Work; Ralph preceded her in passing on November 30, 2012.

Janet had a career working for the Blackhawk School district in Beaver Falls, PA. She served as head cook and eventually retired from the school district. She continued working after retirement and she took a position as a caregiver in Syracuse NY, and after some time she made her way back to Brookville where she continued as a caregiver. She and Ralph started their lives in Brookville. Life took them on the various adventures and when they returned to Brookville, they were able to live in the same home they started in.

Janet attended and was actively involved in the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Brookville, PA. She was also involved with the Richardsville Baptist Church. She loved to sing her whole life through and shared this passion with her husband. They would travel in the area sharing their talents and love of singing with others, uplifting people wherever they would go.

Janet was a very family-oriented person who had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ that she would share with others, all the way through the end. She also enjoyed eating good foods and sharing with her children what she had prepared. Cooking and serving others were some of her favorite things.

Janet is survived by two sons; Mark E. (Cathy) Work, Jeffrey A. (Robin) Work; one brother; Delwin “Bud” (Nancy) Sigworth; four sisters; Joyce Shaffer, Sandra (David) Kirkwood, Carol Hoffman, Vicky Sigworth; two grandsons; Michael (Skye) Work, Matthew Work; 2 granddaughters; Tiffany (Stephen) Morgan, Chelsea (Michael) Jarrell; 4 great-grandchildren; Keeli Work, Levi Morgan, Palmer Morgan, Madelyn Jarrell; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St, Brookville, PA, 15825. A second opportunity for viewing will take place on Thursday, October 18, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 59 Stone Rd., Brookville, PA, 15825. A funeral service will immediately follow the second viewing at the church, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and officiated by Pastor Brian Smeal. Interment will take place at the Richardsville Baptist Cemetery, Richardsville, PA.

Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Brookville, PA.
