Jefferson County Man Accused of Threatening to Shoot Two People Due in Court Next Week

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – A Punxsutawney man who allegedly threatened to shoot two people during a domestic dispute is scheduled to appear in court next week.

According to court documents, a preliminary hearing for 29-year-old Michael Joseph Farster, of Punxsutawney, is set for 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, in Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock.

He faces the following charges:

– Terroristic Threats W/ Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1 (two counts)
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

He is free on $1,000.00 unsecured bail.

According to a criminal complaint, around 7:55 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, Trooper Munsee was dispatched to an active domestic incident at a residence on Saint John Road in Oliver Township.

The complaint states that Michael Farster engaged in a verbal dispute with a known victim which turned physical when Farster struck the victim on the left shoulder.

Two witnesses stated that Farster threatened to shoot the victim and another known woman with a .22 caliber firearm if the State Police were called to the residence, according to the complaint. Based on the threat, the victim and the woman feared for their safety and contacted the state police.

Farster was arraigned at 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, in Judge Mizerock’s office.
