Joseph “Art” Arthur Wolfe Sr.

Joseph “Art” Arthur Wolfe Sr., 89, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2018, as a patient of the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.

Joseph was born on February 25, 1929, to the late Wilbert Byron and Twila Rebecca (Osborne) Wolfe, in Emerickville, PA. On May 19, 1947, he married Mary Delores (Hammer) Wolfe in Brookville, PA; Mary preceded him in passing.

He attended school in Emerickville and he began working at the age of seventeen. He retired at the age of sixty-two, and for almost his entire working career he was with Humphrey Charcoal Company in Brookville, PA.

He was a lifelong member of the Brookville Fraternal Order of Eagles, #983, in Brookville, PA. He was a Christian by faith who enjoyed gardening both flowers and vegetables. Joseph was an avid deer hunter who hunted every year including 2017. He also enjoyed Horseshoe Pitching with his family and friends.

Joseph is survived by one daughter, Rosemary (Randall) Wingard; one son, Joseph A. Jr., (Gale) Wolfe; three sisters, Donna (James) Stahlman of Roseville, Montrose “Mont” (Ed) Wonderling of Brookville, PA, and Judy Phillips of Reynoldsville, PA; one brother, Ernest Wolfe of Brookville, PA; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Joseph is preceded in death by his siblings Gertrude Wolfe, Clint Wolfe, Lois “Sis” Shaffer, Louis “Jack” Wolfe, Donald “Butch” Wolfe, and Alice “Faye” Forsythe.

Private services were held at the Mckinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825, according to the family conveniences. Interment took place at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Rose Township, Jefferson County.

Memorial contributions may be made to any charity of the donor’s choice.
