Local Man Jailed After Allegedly Breaking Into Girlfriend’s Apartment

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. (EYT) – Police arrested a local man after he allegedly broke into his girlfriend’s apartment.

According to court documents, the New Bethlehem Police Department filed criminal charges against 26-year-old Collin David Polka, of New Bethlehem, on December 26.

The incident stemmed from an incident that occurred on Broad Street in New Bethlehem involving a known woman and Polka.

According to a criminal complaint, around 3:56 p.m. on December 26, Officer Hawk was in his office at the New Bethlehem Police Department when he heard a female yelling loudly. As he proceeded out of the station, a known woman indicated that she and her boyfriend – Collin Polka – had engaged in a verbal argument, and he had kicked her door in.

The victim stated that she asked Polka to leave her residence because he was being verbally abusive, and he refused to leave. The victim told police that she left the apartment, and Polka left, as well. When the victim returned to the apartment and locked her door, Polka returned and started knocking on her door. The victim asked him to leave, and Polka hit his shoulder against the door, causing the door to break open, according to the complaint.

The victim also told Officer Hawk that Polka does not live with her and that he just stays there occasionally.

Officers Hawk and Airgood proceeded to the Broad Street apartment and observed the damage.

Police found Polka in the area of Liberty and Broad Streets. At this time, Officer Hawk asked him to go to the police station. Polka allegedly admitted that he used his shoulder to gain access to the apartment, and he admitted that “it was stupid for what he had done,” the complaint states.

According to the complaint, Polka asked Officer Hawk if he could put his phone charger in his dad’s vehicle. As he entered the vehicle, Officer Hawk watched Polka pull a syringe from his front right pocket, and he tried hiding it as he entered the vehicle. Officer Hawk asked Polka to retrieve the syringe, and he complied.

Polka allegedly stated he uses the syringe to shoot up suboxone.

He was arraigned at 6:00 p.m. on December 26 in Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey C. Miller’s office on the following charges:

– Criminal Trespass-Break Into Structure, Felony 2
– Criminal Mischief-Damage Property, Misdemeanor 3
– Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor

Unable to post $2,500.00 monetary bail, Polka was lodged in the Clarion County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. on January 15 with Judge Miller presiding.
