Margaret “Peg” (Hepler) Rowan

Margaret RowanMargaret “Peg” (Hepler) Rowan, age 95, of Brookville, PA, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, as a resident of the Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA.

Peg was born on January 15, 1922, in DuBois, PA, to the late Wilbur and Caron R. (Meyers) Hepler.

She graduated with the class of 1940 from the Brookville High School.

On May 2, 1942, she married Charles M. Rowan; they had eloped to Cumberland, MD. Charles preceded her in passing on December 20, 1990.

In the time following her wedding she and Charles traveled for a while, and eventually settled back in Brookville, PA.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Brookville, PA.

Peg was a seamstress and she made beautiful garments, including her daughter’s wedding dresses.

She enjoyed going for long car rides to see the sights; mostly though she enjoyed spending the car ride with her family.

She was very supportive of her grandchildren’s activities, especially taking the time to watch them play baseball; she loved going to the ball fields.

Peg really enjoyed watching Lucille Ball and Shirley Temple as well.

Her favorite pass time was eating, she loved food, and she especially loved sweets.

Gathering for food was a great way for the family to come together and having both those things at once made her life sweeter overall.

Peg is survived by 2 daughters; Caron (Ross) Ananea of Brookville, PA; Cynthia (David) Ball of Jacksonville, FL; 6 grandchildren; Jr (Connie) Ananea, Megan Howson, Amanda Chesnutt, Ryan (Krystal) Chessnut, Mackenzie (Ryan) Marosy, Keegan Ball; 6 great-grandchildren; Jory Ananea, Jaren Ananea, Carter Howson, Cayley Howson, Osha Chesnutt-Perry, Hunter Chesnutt-Perry; and 1 great-great-grandchild; Anakin Ananea.

In addition to her husband and parents, Peg is preceded in death by 1 brother; David Hepler.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, February 17, 2017, from 4 – 8pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 129 Graham Ave, Brookville, PA, 15825, beginning at 10:00am and officiated by Father William Laska.

Interment will take place at the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rose Twp., Jefferson County, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Brookville Area Little League (B.A.L.L.), PO Box 85, Brookville, PA, 15825.
