Broken Tie Rod Causes One-Vehicle Crash in Rose Township

ROSE TWP., Pa. (EYT) – State police say a driver lost control after his vehicle’s front tie rod broke while he was driving in Rose Township Thursday evening.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, around 5:33 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, 18-year-old Krystofer D. Modaffare, of Worthville, Pa., was operating a 2012 Ford Edge, traveling north on State Route 36 just south of McGarey Road in Rose Township, Jefferson County.

Police say the vehicle’s front tie rod broke and Modaffare lost control and went off the right side of the roadway and into a ditch.

The vehicle came to final rest off the right side of the roadway in the ditch facing northeast.

Modaffare was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Mcpherson’s Towing.
