Danielle Griebel was recognized for her accomplishments, which include making it to the Elks State competition three straight years including a 2015 run to the national championships that saw her earn State and Regional titles. In 2016, she placed second at the state competition losing by a basket.
“I’m so impressed with these young ladies,” Dush said during the presentation. “They not only continually strive to improve their game, but also give back to their community. Danielle and Samantha, their sisters Emily and Katelyn along with Olivia and Natalie Burkett also devoted countless hours renovating and painting the Big Run War Memorial. The images they painted on the wall, including the Iwo Jima memorial and the service emblems for each branch of the service is a testament to how well-rounded they all are. We are blessed to have such excellent young examples of noble character in our communities.”
In addition to being honored by Rep. Dush. Samantha Griebel also received recognition at The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass., where her name and picture are on a display honoring the 2016 Elks Hoop Shoot national champions.
