Rita Christine Spack

Rita Christine Spack, 82, of Punxsutawney, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born in Reynoldsville on March 10, 1936, a daughter of the late Leo C. and Mary C. (Hetrick) Biggie.

Rita was a faithful devout Catholic woman that prayed the Rosary daily.

On November 16, 1957 she married Theodore McCary Spack. He preceded her in death on May 29, 1995.

Rita was always known as a hard worker, she previously worked as a custodian at Punxsutawney Area High School and later worked as a Green Thumb worker in the business office of Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

Her enjoyments were her family, gardening, reading, and putting puzzles together. She was a huge Penn State fan and loved to watch the games.

She is survived by seven children, Stephanie Pearce and husband Dallas of Derry, Tim Spack and wife Missy of Rossiter, Dolores Toven and husband Al of Anita, Denise Pifer and husband Kerry of Punxsutawney, Joe Spack and wife Paula of Punxsutawney, Rita Yenzi and husband Lenny of Reynoldsville, Patty Mock and fiancé Mike Dusch; twenty grandchildren, Kimberly (Joe) Nixon, Bridgette (Josh) Shearer, Ashlee Spack, Seth Spack, Sara (Mike) Root, Jessica (Kyle) Meley, Amanda Toven and fiancé Brian Harvey, Brandi (Richard) Snell, Jacob Vanyo and fiancé Felecia Rowley, Steven Omlor, Keagan Pifer and fiancé Ashley Payson, Luke (Nicole) Spack, Rachel Spack and Logan Reed, Corey (Julie) Yenzi, Codey Yenzi and Brittney Gett, Cortney (Devin) Nicholson, Gabrielle Mock and fiancé Paul Brauer, Walter Mock III “JR”, Mckayla Mock and Tobias Mock; fifteen great grandchildren; one brother, Leo Biggie of North Carolina; four sisters, Mary Young of Punxsutawney, Jane Ann Spak of Reynoldsville, Adda Meterko of Delancey and Kay Troutman and husband Jim of Punxsutawney.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, John Biggie, Sr.

Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 07, 2018, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church, celebrated by Father Leo Gallina. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
