The Golden Eagles (4-9, 2-7 PSAC) will play a second straight road game this weekend when they travel to Gannon.

Elijah Cottrill scored a team-high 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while Khari Williams had 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Sheriff Conteh saw significant action off the bench and contributed seven points.

The Golden Eagles struggled on offense, shooting just 37.3 percent from the field and making just three three-pointers over the course of the night. They briefly held a lead over The Rock in the first half before Slippery Rock pulled ahead and ran away with the result.

Jonathan Williams showed off his midrange game for Clarion’s first bucket of the day, and Khari Williams followed that up with a rhythm three-pointer at the 18:51 mark to put Clarion ahead by a 5-4 score. The Rock took the lead but was unable to pull away as the Golden Eagles kept it tight, with Cottrill drilling a three-pointer to pull the team within 14-12. It remained a single-digit deficit until the 11:42 mark of the first half when John Warren II made a three-pointer to bump The Rock’s lead to 25-15.

Slippery Rock picked up the pace through the end of the half, taking a 50-32 lead at the break on a trey from Amante Britt. Things carried on from there as The Rock continued to pull away, building a large lead and ultimately winning by 33 points.
