Virginia Ruth Braughton

Virginia Ruth Braughton, 102, a resident of the Dubois Nursing Home, formerly of St. Michaels Terrace, Dubois and Chester Hill (Philipsburg RD), passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at the nursing home.

Born December 11, 1915, in Indianapolis, IN, she was a daughter of the late Earle C. and Ruth L. (Prindle) Braughton.

Virginia was a graduate of Washburn High School, Minneapolis, MN, and was the owner of a ceramics business in Chester Hill. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena, Dubois and R.S.V.P. (Retired Senior Volunteer Program).

Virginia was one of the founders of the Clearfield County Office of Aging.

While living in Chester Hill, Virginia was very fond of the children in the neighborhood. She had a huge love for all animals and at one time had a monkey as a pet. Virginia also taught an exercise class while she was a resident of St. Michaels.

Among her survivors are two nieces Nancy Young of Millersville and Tammy Erdien of Minot, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Robert E. Braughton and a sister Carol J. Braughton.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena, 118 S. State St., Dubois, on Monday, July 16, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. with Monsignor Richard R. Siefer as celebrant. Friends will be received at the church from 9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. prior to Mass. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
