.Steady snow will come to an end along the Laurel Highlands and the mountains of Maryland and West Virginia by early afternoon.

Snow will become more showery elsewhere this afternoon with only spotty accumulations expected.

Additional snow accumulations will then come from one or more lake-effect snow bands expected to develop north of I-80 later this afternoon and tonight.

…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST WEDNESDAY…

* WHAT…Steady snow will transition to snow showers by early afternoon. Most of the area will see between 1 to 3 inches of snow, with upwards of 5 inches possible in heavier lake-effect bands that are expected to develop later this afternoon and tonight. Plan on slippery road conditions, including during the morning commute on Wednesday.

* WHERE…Mercer and Jefferson Counties.

* WHEN…Until 1 PM EST Wednesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times.

A Winter Weather Advisory for lake effect snow means lake effect snow is forecast that will make travel difficult in some areas. Use caution when traveling. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
