Woman Faces Preliminary Hearing on String of Retail Thefts in Young Township

YOUNG TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Glen Campbell woman is facing charges stemming from a string of retail thefts that occurred at Walmart in Young Township, Jefferson County.

According to court documents, a preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, for 39-year-old Carolyn Louise Waite-Tomlinson, of Glen Campbell, in front of Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock.

She faces the following charges:

– Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 1
– Retail Theft-Take Merchandise, Misdemeanor 1

According to a criminal complaint, Punxsutawney-based State Police investigated a case concerning multiple incidents of retail thefts involving Carolyn Louise Waite-Tomlinson.

The complaint states that sometime between February 2 and April 28, Waite-Tomlinson utilized the self-checkout lanes at the Young Township Walmart, and on 13 different transactions on different days, she allegedly failed o pay for multiple items. Waite-Tomlinson used various methods throughout the transactions, ranging from straightforward not scanning the items at all to holding two items and only scanning one.

The total value of all of the items stolen is $266.74. Police say, “given the number of items and number of transactions in which this took place, it is not a mistake,” according to the complaint.

Waite-Tomlinson’s criminal history has no other convictions for retail theft at this time.
