Jefferson County Recipe of the Day: Beer Cheese Fondue

Beer Cheese Fondue – A northern twist on a southern dish!

Ingredients

1 – 8 oz. package of cream cheese, softened
12 oz. of Velveeta cheese
½ cup beer (let it set opened for about an hour)
¼ medium onion – minced
¼ tsp. hot sauce
1 garlic clove – minced
¼ tsp. Worcestershire sauce
¼ tsp. coarse ground black pepper
1/8 tsp. salt
pinch cayenne
1 loaf of pumpernickel bread

Directions

~Cut the top fourth off the loaf of bread and carefully hollow out the bottom, leaving a ½ in. shell. Cube the removed bread for dipping. Set bread aside.

~In a medium sauce pan, combine the remaining ingredients over medium-low heat. Stir frequently to avoid scorching. Heat until mixture is creamy then pour cheese into the bread bowl.

~Serve with bread cubes.
