Favorite thing about being in the military:

As a reservist, I only do about a week a month in Pittsburgh, but it’s such an amazing time to put on my uniform and play my part and support my country and fellow Wingmen, as well as other branch members. I have been able to go different places and meet so many different people from all over the country and the world. The friendships you forge are with some amazing people.

What inspires you to be in the military:

There is a small percentage of people that actually join the military in any form. To be a member of that 1%, is a phenomenal experience and sense of pride. The feeling of putting on my uniform is incomparable to anything I had ever felt before. Country pride and love took on a new meaning for me, and to this day, I still get overwhelmed when I hear the national anthem. I know many before me and many after me will know that feeling, and it will continue to inspire, and others will follow. Our military does so much more than fight wars, and to be apart of it has fulfilled my life in ways I could never put into words.

Most memorable moment in the military:

…Would be when I was in Biloxi, Mississippi, and we hosted the special Olympics. We had our own Olympian, and they stayed with us over night. It was so much fun to be with those kids and let them live our life for a day. Those kids were some of the greatest I will ever have the pleasure of knowing. The experience we were able to give them was beyond compare.

Family life:

I currently reside in Wappingers Falls, NY, where my husband is stationed (he’s active duty Marine Corps), and I love being married to another military member! To be supportive as a wife is an awesome experience, as well! My brother Jacob was recently commissioned in the Army National Guard, so the military has really become a way of life for our family. I lost my father a little over two years ago, but we knew that he was so proud of us for stepping up and joining the military, so it really affirms everything we do it for.
