Anthony R. Lavella

Anthony-Lavella-150x150[1]Anthony R. Lavella, 78, of 170 Fairview Road, Kersey, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

He was born June 28, 1936, in Coal Hollow, son of the late Victor L. and Edith C. Angelo Lavella. He was a lifelong resident of Kersey and was a graduate of Kersey High School, Class of 1954. He retired as a machinist and foreman at the Stackpole Corporation and Carbone of America where he had worked for 48 years.

On May 14, 1960, in the St. Tobias Church in Brockway, he married Loretta Casaro, who survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Sandra Flick of Seattle, WA, Debra Lavella (Jason) of Clearfield, and Lisa Lavella (Christina) of Chicago, IL; a son, Rick Lavella (Cindy) of Elysburg, PA; two granddaughters, Kayla Lavella and Emily Flick; two sisters, Hazel Luchini of Dagus Mines and Patricia Catalone (Rudy) of St. Marys; and a brother, George Lavella of Kersey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Victor A. Lavella, Jr.

Mr. Lavella was a member of the St. Boniface Church and a veteran of the US Army, serving two tours of duty. He was an active golfer and a member of Scottish Heights Golf Course. He also enjoyed hunting, walking, and fishing.

There will be no visitation.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Ross Miceli, Pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the Fox Twp. Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will be in the St. Tobias Cemetery.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the St. Boniface Church, 355 Main Street, Kersey, PA 15857 or to the Elk Cameron Special Olympics, PO Box 794, St. Marys, PA 15857.
