Helen Elizabeth (Snyder) Adams

Adams HelenHelen Elizabeth (Snyder) Adams, 90, of Punxsutawney, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 5, 2015.

She passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family, which was made possible because of the care provided by Senior Assist Services.

She was born January 5, 1925 in Dora and lived there until moving to Mahoning Towers in 1992 with her husband Clair E. Adams whom she married on August 22, 1944. He preceded her in death November 5, 2003.

Helen was the daughter of the late James C. Snyder and Emma C. (Gould) Snyder. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Helen enjoyed telling stories about her youth.

She loved gardening, ceramics and singing hymns. She was an avid baker and liked to share.

She was a member of the Dora Evangelical Church and a 1945 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School.

She is survived by five children; Dennis Adams and wife Carol, Kathleen Kennedy and husband Keith, Margo Craven and husband John, Paula Anne Sylvis and husband Wayne all of Punxsutawney, Roger Adams and wife Deborah of Ohio, two foster sons; Arthur and companion Rita and Robert of W VA. one sister; Lillian Montrose Elkin of Ohio, seventeen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and one due in October.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers; Otley, Rudy, James and Joseph Snyder and sisters; Pearl, Willovene, Nellie, Myrna, Alice, Ellen Louise, Emma Gertrude and a great grandson; Aiden Douglas McKee.

Friends will be received from 2­8 pm Thursday at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney. A funeral service will be held at 10 am Friday at Dora Evangelical Church with Rev. Kenneth Alt officiating. Interment will follow at Dora Evangelical Cemetery.
