Ilene G. Bovaird age 92 of Route 28 Brockway, PA (Sugar Hill) died on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born on May 26, 1923 in Sugar Hill, she was the daughter of the late Richard L. and Delva Long Ross.
She was married to Wayne Bovaird on June 15, 1946 and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2008.
Retired, Ilene taught 4th grade for 43 years in the Snyder/Brockway School District, and for two years from 1958 to 1960, she taught Physical Education and Health.
She was a life long member of the Sugar Hill Presbyterian Church.
Ilene was a member of the Brockway Education Association, PSEA; NEA; and the Jefferson County PSAR. She also was a member of the Brockway Presbyterian Church’s Breakfast Class and Philotes. She enjoyed traveling and camping. She is survived by 2 daughters: Debra Britton of Falls Creek; Darla (Syed) Karimushan of Phillipsburg, PA; and 1 son Roger (Lori) Bovaird of Brockway. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband she is preceded in death by a brother Stanley Ross.
Calling hours will be on Monday, September 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 22 at 11:00 AM at the Sugar Hill Presbyterian Church with Pastors David and Emily Koehler officiating. Burial will follow in the Beechwoods Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Sugar Hill Presbyterian Church.
