D9 Releases Partial Info on Next Round of Hoops Playoffs

BROCKWAY, Pa. – District 9 chairman Jim Manners releases information on the dates, times and locations of the District 9 Class A boys’ and girls’ quarterfinal games and the Class AAA boys’ and girls’ championship games late Wednesday night.

The Class AAA title games will be played Friday night at Clarion University’s Tippin Gym.

Bradford will take on Punxsutawney in the girls’ title game at 6 p.m. followed by Clearfield and St. Marys in the boys’ championship game at 7:30 p.m.

A pair of boys’/girls’ doubleheaders and a boys’ doubleheader Friday night highlight the Class A quarterfinal brackets.

One doubleheader will take place at Kane High School and feature both the Clarion and Coudersport boys’ and girls’ teams.

The girls’ game will tip-off at 6 p.m. followed by the boys’ game at 7:30 p.m.

The other boy/girl doubleheader will be at Clarion High School starting with the Union vs. Clarion-Limestone boys’ game at 6 p.m. followed by the Union vs. North Clarion girls’ game at 7:30 p.m.

The boys’ only doubleheader will take place at St. Marys High School.

In the first game, Cameron County and Ridgway will meet at 6 p.m. Then at 7:30 p.m., DuBois Central Catholic will take on Elk County Catholic. It will be the fifth game out of 25 at St. Marys High School for ECC, which has to make the short drive across town for the game.

There are two single games in the girls’ bracket, although one of them was still listed as TBA in the bracket released.

Keystone and DuBois Central Catholic will meet at 7 p.m. Friday at Brookville High School.

The other game, involving Northern Potter and Elk County Catholic, hasn’t been scheduled yet. Not even a day is listed on the bracket.

The same can be said for the Class AA girls’ field. No dates, locations or times have been decided for the semifinal games yet with one semifinal pitting Redbank Valley vs. Moniteau and the other Karns City vs. Kane.

The boys’ semifinals also haven’t been determined, although part of that is because the quarterfinals are being played Thursday night at Clarion High School.
