Ruth Imelda Botts

Ruth Imelda Botts, 96, formerly Knox and Brookville, passed away on December 26, 2017 at Shippenville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Ruth was born in Oil City on March 1, 1921, the daughter of the late Earl and Jesse (Griffin) Croup. She was one of seven sisters, and the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In1942, she married Joseph T. Botts who preceded her in death in 1985. Ruth was a member of the Manor United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed singing hymns, playing the piano, telling stories and jokes, and taking care of others. She had a good sense of humor and would keep those around her smiling and laughing with her smile and tales of the “John the Baptist” plant. Ruth was a good cook and baker when she was younger.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Sally Rapp, of Shippenville; her son, Joseph E. Botts and wife Linda, of Knox, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, John E. Dilley; her grandsons, Stanley A. Botts and Paul Botts; and a great-grandson, D.J. Daum.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion. As per Ruth’s expressed wishes, there will be no visitation and no services.
