REYNOLDSVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — A Jefferson County woman is behind bars after Reynoldsville Borough Police took her into custody for a parole violation.
According to court documents, 24-year-old Haylee Christine Malmgren, of Reynoldsville, is in the Jefferson County Jail after police charged her with resisting arrest and providing false identification to law enforcement officials following a December 29 incident in the borough.
She was arraigned on Tuesday, January 2, at 10:30 a.m. Her bail was set at $5,000.00 by District Judge David Inzana.
Her preliminary hearing is scheduled in front of Inzana at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 11.
According to a criminal complaint, Reynoldsville Police Officer Tammy Murray was contacted by Children & Youth Services on December 29 to do a welfare check at a West Main Street residence.
When Officer Murray responded, she found a woman laying on the sofa who identified herself as Haylee Sarvey, the complaint states.
Officer Murray determined that the woman had provided a false name to avoid arrest and that she was Haylee Malmgren. Malmgren allegedly said she gave a false name because she “was afraid and did not want to go back to jail,” according to the complaint.
According to Officer Murray, Malmgren has an active arrest warrant through parole.
When Officer Murray tried to handcuff Malmgren, she allegedly began to resist and pulled away while the officer repeatedly told her to stop. After several minutes of Malmgren resisting and screaming, Officer Murray used more force to handcuff her, and then she took her to the police station, the complaint states.
Officer Murray then contacted state parole, and a detainer was placed on Malmgren.
According to court documents, Malmgren was sentenced to serve four years probation after pleading guilty in June of 2015 to two counts of child endangerment. She was ordered to not consume any alcohol.
After violating her probation, Malmgren was re-sentenced to serve 2 1/2 to 5 years in jail in September of 2015.
She was paroled in September of 2016, according to court documents.
