Car Crashes into Guide Rails Off I-80, Sandy Township

SANDY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police say a one-car crash occurred on Thursday afternoon on Interstate 80, in Sandy Township, Clearfield County.

According to police, around 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, a 2014 Chevrolet Impala was traveling east on I-80 near mile marker 100.2 in the left lane. The driver – 33-year-old Scott D. Walton, of DuBois – reported that he lost control of his car when a truck nearly collided with it as the truck was merging into the left lane. The Impala began to rotate in a forward counterclockwise motion across the right lane and shoulder before striking a guide rail end sideways. Walton was able to gain control of his car, and he traveled east on the right shoulder a distance before bringing the Impala to a controlled stop.

Walton was using a seat belt and was not injured.

He was charged with a traffic violation.

Auto Undertaker removed the car from the scene.
