Shirley Mae Bereksazi

Shirley Mae Bereksazi, 85, of Tionesta, passed peacefully on Monday, April 16, 2018, at her residence.

Born June 28, 1932, in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edward G. and Arbutus J. (Parson) Wagner. She was a high school graduate and attended college for two years. She was married to Stephen R. Bereksazi on October 2, 1963, in Pittsburgh, PA.

She was employed as a bookkeeper and did payroll in Pittsburgh for many years. After moving to this area she worked as a waitress at Knotty Pines Restaurant in Tionesta, PA. Shirley was a member of the Lady’s Guild and did mentoring at West Forest School District. She also worked at the Senior Center in Tionesta. She loved to cook, read, and play cards. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was of the Catholic Faith and was a member of St. Anthony’s Church in Tionesta.

She is survived by her daughter Sharon L. “Regis” Bereksazi of West Hickory, PA; and two grandchildren, Greg Bereksazi of Howard, PA, and Christopher Bereksazi of West Hickory, PA. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Devon, Garrett, Taylore, and Sophia.

Along with her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie and Kenny; two sisters, Mabel and Wanda; and a grandson Jeffrey.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong Funeral Home, 140 Cherry Street, Marienville, PA.

The family suggest memorials be made to the Tionesta Library.
