WARSAW TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Jefferson County woman is facing assault and related charges following an incident where she allegedly kicked a man in the genitals and struck him with the broken handle of a sledge hammer.
Court documents indicate the DuBois-based State Police filed criminal charges against 38-year-old April Dawn Conner, of Brockway.
According to a criminal complaint, around 9:55 a.m. on Friday, November 15, Trooper Thompson of the DuBois-based State Police was dispatched to a residence in Warsaw Township for a report of a domestic assault.
Troopers Thompson and Steele arrived at the scene around 10:26 a.m. to speak with the victim.
According to the complaint, the victim reported he was putting wood in the wood burner when he and April Dawn Conner engaged in a verbal altercation and Conner then kicked him in the genitals.
Conner then allegedly picked up a wooden handle of a broken sledge hammer and smashed the driver’s side window, bug shield, and a portion underneath the left headlight of the victim’s blue 2003 Ford Ranger.
According to the complaint, the victim then threw debit cards toward Conner, hitting her in the face with them, and Conner allegedly struck the victim across the lower back with the wooden sledge hammer handle.
The complaint notes the victim suffered a bruise to his lower back.
Conner was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, on the following charges:
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Criminal Mischief – Damage Property, Misdemeanor 3
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary
She remains free on $10,000.00 unsecured bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on December 3, with Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak presiding.
