Woman Accused of Stealing Purse Left at Business, Attempting to Use Victim’s Credit Card

BROOKVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Charges are pending against a woman who allegedly took a purse left at a business and then attempted to use the victim’s credit card.

Brookville Borough Police say on February 6, a purse was left at a business on Progress Street in Brookville Borough.

According to police, the purse was then taken by a known 59-year-old female, who was observed on security video walking out of the business with the purse tucked under her jacket.

Police say an attempted was then made to use a credit card belonging to the victim on February 12, but the transaction was declined.

Police then attempted to speak to the suspect about turning in the purse and possibly avoiding criminal issues.

The suspect allegedly reported she “thought it might be at her sister’s residence,” and left and then returned. She then allegedly denied any knowledge of the purse and asked police to leave the property.

Police say charges are pending through District Court 54-3-03.
