FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — In an effort to improve hunter access on State Game Lands, the Pa. Game Commission opens a number of service roads on certain Game Lands in the Northwest Region, mainly during deer season. Here is a list of some of those roads. The links are PDF maps of the areas where roads are open. Hunters should be aware that other roads off the open ones are marked as closed. FOREST COUNTY SGL 24 Seasons Open:  From the first day of antlered and antlerless rifle deer seasons to the last day antlered and antlerless rifle deer season. Forest County, 1.5 miles, from Carll Rd. (T-603) near Clarion County line SE to terminus of access road SGL 24 Seasons Open:  From the first day of antlered and antlerless rifle deer seasons to the last day antlered and antlerless rifle deer season. Forest County, 1.25 miles, from Guitonville Rd. (SR 3004) near Golinza SE to gate at Coon Creek crossing. SGL 24 Seasons Open:  From the first day of antlered and antlerless rifle deer seasons to the last day antlered and antlerless rifle deer season. Forest County, 2.25 miles, from Gate 3 parking lot at Guitonville Rd. (SR 3004) south to gate above Zip Run. SGL 24 Seasons Open:  From the first day of antlered and antlerless rifle deer seasons to the last day antlered and antlerless rifle deer season. Forest County, 2.5 miles, from Gate 4 parking lot at Guitonville Rd. (SR 3004) SE to gate above Big Weaver Run. Forest County, 1.1 miles, from Gate 5 parking lot just west of the village of Guitonville SE to the gate above Little Weaver Run. Forest County, 3.1 miles, from Judy Run parking lot at Wards Ranch Road (SR 2007) west to the gate at the stone pit above Judy Run. JEFFERSON COUNTY SGL 31 Seasons Open:  General Small Game, Antlered, Antlerless, Flintlock Jefferson County, 6.7 miles, starting at a parking lot on Route 236, and terminating at another parking lot at East Branch Road. Includes the portion of the side road that accesses the Barilar Fields. VENANGO COUNTY SGL 39 Seasons Open:  Open from two weeks before archery season to last day of muzzleloader. Venango County, one mile from Game Commission parking lot at the east end of Township Route 371 Dewoody Road in a southerly direction to the boundary of State Forest land. CLARION COUNTY SGL 45 Seasons Open:  From the first day of antlered and antlerless rifle deer seasons to the last day antlered and antlerless rifle deer season. Clarion County - beginning at the parking area at the intersection of Kline Road and SR 2017 for a distance of 1.2 miles to a logging turn around area. JEFFERSON/ELK COUNTY SGL 54 & SGL 44 Seasons Open:  From the first day of antlered and antlerless rifle deer seasons to the last day antlered and antlerless rifle deer season. Jefferson and Elk Counties, enters Game Lands No 54 approximately one (1) mile northeast of the village of Green Brier along Route 949, traveling in an easterly direction approximately three (3) miles where it intersects with the Empire Ridge Road. SGL 54 & SGL 44 Seasons Open:  Small Game, Antlered, Antlerless, Flintlock Elk and Jefferson Counties, 3 3/4 miles, Elk County, and 2 1/2 miles, Jefferson County, Empire Ridge Road leading from parking lot and gate at Old Training School site to Highway route 949. All side roads to be closed. SGL 54 Seasons Open:  All, except closed from the 1st Monday following flintlock deer season to 1 week prior to trout season. Jefferson County, from 7th Avenue Extension approximately 1.25 miles from the gate to the 2nd gate and parking area. SGL 54 Seasons Open:  All, except closed from the 1st Monday following flintlock deer season to 1 week prior to trout season. Jefferson County, Metts Road - approximately 1.2 miles from the gate to the 2nd gate and parking area CLARION/JEFFERSON COUNTY SGL 74 Seasons Open:  From the first day of antlered and antlerless rifle deer seasons to the last day antlered and antlerless rifle deer season. Clarion County - from Spring Drive and to a designated parking area approximately 0.7 miles from the gate. SGL 74 Seasons Open:  From the first day of antlered and antlerless rifle deer seasons to the last day of antlered and antlerless rifle deer season. Clarion County - from Old State Road to a designated parking area approximately 1 mile from the gate. WARREN COUNTY SGL 86 Seasons Open:  From the first day of antlered and antlerless rifle deer seasons to the last day antlered and antlerless rifle deer season. Warren County, 6 miles, York Hill gate off of Rocky Ridge Road east ending at two separate interior gates (Pipeline Road and Becker Fields Road). SGL 86 Seasons Open:  The first day of antlered and antlerless rifle deer seasons to the last day of antlered and antlerless deer seasons. Warren County, 3.1 miles, from Connelly Run gate at Davey Hill Road to an interior gate west of Connelly Run. SGL 143 Seasons Open:  From the first day of antlered and antlerless rifle deer seasons to the last day antlered and antlerless rifle deer season. Warren County - (part of marked snowmobile road) start at the parking area at Spetz Hill (1.3 miles southwest of TR 388 at the end of TR 457) and proceed 2.3 miles southeast on the marked snowmobile road to the termination point at the crossroads. SGL 143 Seasons Open:  From the first day of antlered and antlerless deer rifle season to the last day of antlered and antlerless deer rifle season. Warren County – Beginning at the parking area on Moore Lane (Forest Road) and proceeding northwest for 2.8 miles to the gate at the termination point. SGL 143 Seasons Open:  From the opening day of the regular firearms deer season until the close of regular firearms deer season. Road 143-7 starting at gate 143-7-G5 and proceed 1.6 miles east to the parking area. JEFFERSON COUNTY SGL 244 Seasons Open:  All, except closed from the 1st Monday following flintlock deer season to 1 week prior to trout season. Jefferson County, from O'Donnell Road approximately 0.73 miles from the gate and parking area to the 2nd gate and parking area. SGL 283 Seasons Open:  From the first day of the antlered rifle deer season to the last day of the antlered and antlerless rifle deer season. Access Road 283-6: Approximately 0.93 miles of access road are located on the right-hand side of Iron Bridge Road approximately 0.8 miles southwest of SR 36. This roadway terminates at a designated parking area at an old log landing. CLARION COUNTY SGL 283 Seasons Open:  From the first day of the antlered rifle deer season to the last day of the antlered and antlerless rifle deer season. Access Road 283-9: Approximately 1.16 miles of access road are located on the right-hand side of Iron Bridge Road, approximately 1.93 miles southwest from its intersection with SR 36. This road terminates at a designated parking area near a natural gas pipeline.
