Mary Jane Mays

Mary Jane Mays, 88, a lifelong residence of Clarington, passed away on Tuesday morning, February 9, 2016 at the Serenity House in Shippenville.

She was born on March 9, 1927 in Sigel, PA; daughter of the late Richard and Olive Brown Hagerty. Mary was married on August 17, 1944 to Samuel A. Mays, who preceded her in death on September 5, 1993.She was a homemaker.

A past matron of the order of the Eastern Star in both Marienville and Brookville chapters. Mary enjoyed cross word puzzles, gardening, flowers, fishing, and also spending time with her family.

She is survived by one son, James Mays and wife Patricia of Marienville, two daughters Patricia J. Mason of Clarington and Mary Ann Wilson of Sigel, seven grandchildren, Tim Wilson, Jamie Wilson, Lori J. Mason, Mary Beth Mason-Baughman, Robert Mays Jr., Michelle Mays, and Susan Mays, eight great grandchildren, and one sister, Helen Steele of Lower Burrell.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Robert Mays Sr., two son-in-laws, Larry Mason and John Wilson, two brothers, Richard Hagerty and Robert Hagerty, and one sister, Hazel Cook.

Family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion.

Funeral Services will be held at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Randy Evens, Clarion Forest V.N.A. Chaplin Interment will take place in the Mount Taber Cemetery in Siegel.
