Punxsy Man Injured in Rollover Crash in Canoe Township

CANOE TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a Punxsutawney man was injured in a rollover crash in northern Indiana County late Thursday morning.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, the accident happened around 11:23 a.m. on Thursday, January 14, on Barnett Hill Road, just north of Juneau Road, in Canoe Township, Indiana County.

Police say 22-year-old Navada C. Shaffer, of Punxsutawney, was operating a 2006 Cadillac DTS traveling north on Barnett Hill Road when he entered a right curve traveling at an unsafe speed and went off the west side of the roadway and struck an embankment. The vehicle then rolled over and came to rest on its driver’s side, facing north.

Shaffer was not using a seat belt and suffered suspected minor injuries to his head and face.

He was transported to Punxsutawney Area Hospital by Jefferson County EMS.

According to police, Shaffer is being cited for a speed violation, driving on a suspended license, and failure to wear a seatbelt. The charges are pending through District Court 40-3-01.
