Man Who Pleaded Guilty in Brookville Teen's Heroin Overdose Death Could Spend Additional 60 Years in Prison

shawn-carrJEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – Shawn R. Carr was sentenced to serve 20 to 60 years in prison on September 18 for parole violations by Jefferson County Judge of Common Pleas John H. Foradora.

Carr, 30, of Sigel, is to serve four, five to 15 year terms consecutively.

He will have to serve the sentences in Jefferson County before he can begin serving the eight to 16 year sentence received in Clarion County by Judge of Common Plea’s James G. Arner on August 14.

In July, Carr pleaded guilty to charges in connection with the heroin overdose death of 19-year-old Devan Knapp of Brookville.

The sentencing for Knapp’s death includes: Drug Delivery Resulting In Death, Criminal Use Of Communication Facility, Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, and Abuse Of Corpse.

Ms. Knapp disappeared on the evening of Friday, January 11, 2013. Her remains were found early in the morning hours of Tuesday, January 15, 2013, in her white Scion FR-S along Summerville Drive in Millcreek Township, Clarion County.

Several other charges, including Murder of the Third Degree, were dropped in exchange for the guilty pleas.

In a previous interview, Aaron told exploreClarion.com that the “victim’s mother is supportive and that was a major factor in us entering into this plea bargain.”

If he serves a full sentence, Carr will be 106 when released.
