Alan Lorrain Dobson, Sr.

Alan Lorrain Dobson, Sr. age 89, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 2, 2018 in the comfort of his home and surrounded by his family.

He was born on February 25, 1929, to the late Jacob Arthur and Ida Mae (Maurer) Dobson in Worthville, PA.

He graduated from the Punxsutawney High School with the class of 1949.

On April 21, 1956, Alan married his beloved wife Dora Bonnell (McMinn) Dobson in Worthville, PA; Dora survives him.

He was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Brookville, PA.

Alan started working with his family in their Coal Mines which were located around the Worthville area.

He also worked for the saw mills, and he was a welder for American Bridge.

He also worked for Penn Seperator in Brookville for over 29 years.

Throughout most of his working life he owned and operated his own family farm in addition to everything else; they had dairy and beef cows and raised all kinds of crops.

Alan also served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army.

He enjoyed wood working, hunting, fishing, beekeeping, and farming.

He was a very creative person, inventive and intelligent.

He would use various parts from very different machines to fabricate whatever it was he was needing; an example would be his homemade bandsaw.

Alan loved to talk and visit with people, telling stories and just simply making people feel good.

In addition to his wife, Alan is survived by two sons; Capt. Alan L. (Rae Lyn) Dobson Jr., U.S. Air Force Ret.; Raymond A. (Melanie) Dobson; one daughter; Terry L. Bish; six grandchildren; Tiffany L. (Lieutenant Colonel Carl) Maymi, Amber L. Dobson, Christopher L. (Brittany) Bish, Rebecca L. Dobson, Keri L. Dobson, Jacob A. Dobson; and two great-grandchildren; Mireya K. Maymi and Nolan C. Maymi.

In addition to his parents, Alan is preceded in death by one son; Carl Duane Dobson; and one brother; Bernard R. Dobson.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, from 2 – 4pm and 6 – 8pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St, Brookville, PA 15825.

A second day of viewing will take place on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, from 10 – 11am, at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 30 S White St, Brookville, PA 15825.

A funeral service will immediately follow the Wednesday viewing, beginning at 11:00am and officiated by Pastor Chuck Jack.

Interment will take place at the Worthville Cemetery.
