Alexa Gonczi Named PSAC Winter Top 10 Honoree

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) announced their 2023-24 Winter Top 10 award winners on Friday. Clarion’s Alexa Gonczi earned a spot on the prestigious list, ranking among the conference’s top-five female scholar-athletes during the Winter season.

Top 10 Awards, selected by the PSAC sports information directors, recognize student-athletes who distinguish themselves in the classroom as well as in the arena of competition. The conference designates Top 10 Award winners after each of the sports seasons: fall, winter and spring. To be a candidate for the Top 10 Awards, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum of a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and must be a starter or key reserve with legitimate athletic credentials.

Gonczi won the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Women’s Diver of the Year award after capping her junior season with a standout performance at the Division II Championships, winning the national championship in the 3-Meter Dive and taking third place in the 1-Meter Dive. Gonczi has now earned four total All-American honors over her career, but her pair of top-eight finishes in 2024 are the first of her career.

Gonczi is the first Golden Eagle women’s swimming & diving athlete to earn Winter Top 10 honors since Christina Sather in 2019.
