Allegheny Boulevard Project Running On Schedule

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – The repair work on Route 36 in Brookville and Rose Township is on schedule to be completed in October, according to PennDOT.

In April, PennDOT informed drivers that traffic patterns would change as Francis J. Palo, Inc., patched sections along the route. PennDOT’s Deborah Casadei explained the traffic changes.

“Once you pour concrete, it has to cure, so we reroute traffic around those spots while it does,” Casadei said. “The contractor is currently performing concrete pavement patching and minor drainage work in the two northbound lanes.”

The announced changes impacted Route 36 from the Route 28/322 intersection to north of the Brookville/Rose Township line. PennDOT took the road down to one lane each direction with a center turning lane.

Crews still need to complete the center line concrete pavement patching, the southbound minor drainage work, bituminous paving, driveway adjustments, removing the high-mast lighting, and other minor electrical work to the remaining lights. Casadei said that weather is not impacting the project and it should be completed on schedule in October.

Casadei added that drivers still need to slow down when approaching the area.

“Motorists appear to be adapting to the new traffic patterns,” she said. “They still should slow down and use caution in work zones.”
