Alvin Patrick “Pat” Kennedy

Alvin Patrick “Pat” Kennedy, 85, died on Friday December 15, 2017 at Penn Highlands, Brookville.

Born August 1, 1932 in Punxsutawney, PA, he was the son of the late Linus and Violet (Moser) Kennedy. Pat attended High School in Punxsutawney. He was married to Mary Lingenfelter, she precedes him in death. Pat was a farmer and a heavy equipment operator for the coal mines in the area. He belonged to the Summerville United Methodist Church. Pat was the mayor of Summerville for a number of years. He enjoyed farming, playing music, hunting, his horses, tractor pulls, being with his family, and was always willing to help anyone in need.

Pat is survived by a son William P. Kennedy of Altoona, PA; a daughter, Marlene Kennedy of Summerville, PA; two brothers Marlin “Bud” Kennedy and wife Karen and Kenneth Kennedy; two sisters, Helen Smith and Lois Knoffer; two grandchildren, Jeff Hoffman and wife Crystal and Heidi Plyler and husband Mark; and three great-grandchildren, Sydney Hoffman, Mark Plyler, and Elena Plyler.

Along with his parents and wife, Pat is preceded in death by his daughter Joan Kennedy; two brothers, Fred Kennedy and Delas Justice; and a sister Eleanor Kennedy Miller.

A private funeral was held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Furlong Funeral Home, with the Rev. Saxman officiating. Interment is to be in the Vandervort Cemetery, Clover Twp., Jefferson County.
