Anna C. Smochek

Anna C. Smochek, 91, of Punxsutawney, died Thursday, November 25, 2021, at her home.

She was born March 30, 1930, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Mary Jane (Sulick) and Peter Paul Gresock.

On October 3, 1949, she married Raymond A. Smochek, who preceded her in death on September 23, 2012. They were married for sixty-two years.

She was the last remaining member of her immediate family.

Anna was a high school graduate of SSCD High School and was a devoted Catholic. She was a member of Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church in Punxsutawney and served in the Rosary Altar Society, the Blue Army, served as a eucharistic minister for many years and was a member of the Prayer Chain.

She enjoyed praying twenty-four hours a day, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing scrabble and putting puzzles together with her caregivers. She enjoyed her final years with the caregivers from Christ the King Manor and her final days with her amazing hospice staff.

Surviving family include four sons and three daughters; Raymond T. Smochek of Slippery Rock; Paul E. Smochek and wife Beth Ann of Glen Campbell; Stanley J. Smochek and wife Julie of Punxsutawney; Richard M. Smochek and wife Sharon of Columbia, TN; Mary Ann Bell and husband Greg of Mahaffey; Donna Marie Little and husband Jeffrey of Mahaffey; and Susan Kathleen Bloxdorf and husband Brett of Mahaffey; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her parents, two infant sisters, and three sisters, Irene Hull, Martha Hook and Amelia Obbish, and a daughter-in-law Susan Smochek.

Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, November 28, 2021, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 29, 2021, at SS.C.D. Church with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo officiating.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.

Memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Mrs. Smochek, to Christ the King Manor Activities Department, 1100 West Long Avenue, DuBois, PA 15801.
