Anthony (Tony) Viglione age 78, of 1838 Treasure Lake, DuBois, PA, died Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh following a lengthy illness.
He was born May 22, 1943, in Troia, Italy, son of the late John and Maria (Lamanaco) Viglione. He married Maureen Benigni on June 1, 1968, she survives. He resided in Ridgway from 1956-2009 and in Dubois from 2009 until the present. He was a member of St. Michael Archangel Catholic Church in DuBois and St. Leo Catholic Church in Ridgway. He served on the boards of Penn Highlands DuBois, S & T Bank, and Penn State DuBois. He was a member of the Sons of Italy, the Lions, and the Elks. He was a graduate of Elk County Catholic High School and served in the Army National Guard. He was the owner of PC Systems in Ridgway for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen Viglione of DuBois, PA; 3 children, Nikki (Travis) Williams of Pittsburgh, PA, Tricia (Jason) Brigger of DuBois, PA, and Garret Viglione of Pittsburgh, PA; 9 grandchildren: Anthony Williams, Lucia Williams, Sofia Williams, Mario Williams, Gino Williams, Bruno Williams, Isaac Brigger, Lidia Brigger, and Roman Brigger; 2 brothers: Michael Viglione of Grantville, PA and Johnny Viglione of Ridgway; 1 sister Carmela Bonghi of Ridgway, and several nieces and nephews. We cannot leave out his love for his son Garret’s dog Rocco.
Rocco was Tony’s constant companion while visiting Pittsburgh. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters-in-law: Donna Viglione and Deborah Dillon; and 3 brothers-in-law: John Bonghi, Thomas Pauline, and Bruce Heigel.
Tony came to America in 1956 on a boat with his family. Together they had a total of 3 bags!
To say he succeeded in living the American dream is an understatement. In his younger years, he worked many jobs to help support his family and also enjoyed many nights at the bowling alley and Aiello’s cafe. He owned and ran two successful retail businesses, before diving into the powdered metal industry. He retired in 1999, but couldn’t sit still, so then purchased his current business PC Systems.
Tony loved to golf. He spent many, many years as a member of the Ridgway Country Club and has endless memories there with friends and with his wife and children. In recent years, he enjoyed golfing at his place in Florida with friends and golfing at Treasure Lake and Nevillewood Country Club. He especially loved golfing with his grandsons.
However, nothing defines Tony more than his pride and love for his family. He was the center of the entire family and was happiest when everyone was together. His love for Maureen was unparalleled and his love for his kids and grandchildren was worn on his face to everyone he met.
From Italy, Tony brought tradition, strength and love of family and he shared it with everyone. He has created a beautiful legacy that spans all across the world .
A Mass of Christian Burial for Anthony Viglione will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church on Monday, August 9, 2021, at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Fr. William Laska, Pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Brookville. Burial will be at St. Leo Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-5 PM.
