Area Man Accused of Forcing His Way into Woman’s Apartment in Punxsy

PUNXSUTAWNEY BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – An area man is facing felony trespass and other charges related to an incident where he allegedly forced his way into a woman’s apartment in Punxsutawney.

Court documents indicate the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 32-year-old Gary Wayne Banks, of Marion Center.

According to a criminal complaint, around 9 a.m. on June 29, a known victim reported that Gary Banks broke into her apartment, violating a Protection From Abuse (PFA) order.

The victim told police Banks came to her door and asked to come inside and when she told him he could not come inside, he pulled on the locked door and managed to gain entry to the apartment.

According to the complaint, the victim reported she told Banks to leave and threatened to call police and he responded by calling her offensive names. The victim then began to dial 9-1-1, at which point Banks reportedly left the apartment.

The following charges against Banks were waived for court on July 15:

– Criminal Trespass-Enter Structure, Felony 3
– Harassment – Comm. Lewd, Threatening, Etc. Language, Misdemeanor 3
– Def Tres Actual Communication To, Misdemeanor 3
– Disorder Conduct Hazardous/Physical Offense, Misdemeanor 3

The charges have been transferred to the Clarion County Court of Common Pleas.

Banks is currently free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.
