Area Man Faces Fleeing, DUI-Related Charges Following 20-Mile Police Pursuit Ends in Crash on Route 36

OLIVER TWP., Pa. (EYT) – An area man is facing fleeing and DUI-related charges following a 20-mile police pursuit that ended in a crash on State Route 36 on Saturday night.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, around 6:54 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, troopers engaged in a vehicle pursuit on State Route 36/Coolspring Road, in Oliver Township, Jefferson County, with 20-year-old Logan Christopher Wells, of Indiana, Pa.

After an approximately 20-mile pursuit, Wells subsequently crashed his 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse into a guide rail. Wells was not injured.

He was taken into custody and transported to Jefferson County Jail.

He was arraigned at 8:40 a.m. on Sunday, July 4, in Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana’s office on the following charges:

– Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Officer, Felony 3 (two counts)
– Use/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor (two counts)
– Driving Under Influence of Alcohol/Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor
– Exceed Maximum Speed Limit Established by 45 MPH, Summary (six counts)
– Disregard Traffic Lane (Single), Summary (10 counts)
– Careless Driving, Summary
– Reckless Driving, Summary
– Improper Pass, Summary (10 counts)
– Improper Pass Right – Off-Road, Summary (three counts)
– Pass Left Unsafe, Summary (10 counts)
– Driving at Safe Speed, Summary
– Pa. Vehicle Registration Expired Within 60 Days, Summary
– Operating Vehicle Without Required Financial Responsibility, Summary
– Turning Movements and Required Signals, Summary (10 counts)

He is currently free on $20,000.00 unsecured bail.

A date for a preliminary hearing has not yet been set.
