Arthur B. Shugarts age 93 of Hartville, Ohio, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.
He passed away peacefully at the Shepherd’s Gate Assisted Living, his home for the past 4 years. He was born on November 19, 1927 in Brookville, PA; the son of the late Wilbur and Genevieve Swineford Shugarts. He graduated in 1944 from the Brookville High School and was drafted into the U.S. Navy.
In 1960, he settled in Niles, Ohio and went to work for Daniel Motor Freight and later Wean United in Austintown, Ohio, retiring in 1989. He was a resident of Niles until 2016. Also in 1960, he married his wife, Betty Reasinger who preceded him in death in 2013.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Mary (Alan) Bernazzoli of Blairsville, PA, and Artha (Bob) Jamison of Hartville, Ohio; a brother, Richard (Evelyn) Shugarts of Brookville; 5 grandchildren: Tosha, Nicholas, Zachary, Jessica and Victoria; 4 great grandchildren: Emma, Ellie, Natasha, and Isaac.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he is also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Niznik; 2 brothers, William and Gary Shugarts; and a sister,, Mary Case.
There will be no public visitation. Due to the current Covid Pandemic, a Funeral Service will be live streamed on Monday, January 11, 2021, at 5:00 PM with Pastor Dave Nagele officiating.
