Attorneys General Announce Investigation of Volkswagen

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane yesterday announced the Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection would join 28 other Attorneys General in investigating Volkswagen diesel vehicles.

Attorney General Kane instructed the bureau to immediately open an investigation concerning the reports that Volkswagen diesel vehicles were equipped with software devices which were able to cheat emissions tests.

“Volkswagen’s misguided effort to manipulate pollution data to boost sales and mislead consumers is disturbing,” said Attorney General Kane. “We look forward to working with other Attorneys General across the nation to get to the bottom of this problem.”

Consumers who believe they were harmed by Volkswagen are encouraged to file a complaint with the Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection at 1-800-441-2555 or go to www.attorneygeneral.gov.
