Police Remain Mum on Susan Bachman Death Investigation

susan-bachman-768x1024ROSE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – State Police have declined to comment on the investigation of the death of a Centre County woman whose remains were found last week near the same place where she was last seen in July.

On Thursday, April 16, the body of 37-year-old Susan Louise Bachman, of Centre County, was found in Rose Township, Jefferson County.

No information has been released on how Bachman died.

According to a published article on wjactv.com, police have found new evidence linked to Bachman; however, they did not reveal the information.

On July 4, 2014, at 8:19 a.m., Bachman was being driven to the Clarion Psychiatric Center by her father and mother for a mental health evaluation.

At mile marker 77.6 on Interstate 80 Westbound, Rose Township, Jefferson County, Bachman jumped from the moving vehicle onto the berm of Interstate 80. She then fled into the woods. Investigative and search efforts, at that time, yielded physical evidence belonging to Bachman, but police were unable to locate her at that time.

New evidence was found recently in the area where Bachman had fled into the woods.

On April 15, State Police Troopers converged on this area to prepare for a cadaver dog search that was scheduled for April 20. During this preliminary search, human remains were discovered that were identified as those of Susan Bachman.

Police say this is a continuing investigation that will prevent any further comments from being made at this time.

Dr. Dennis C. Dirkmaat, Director of The Applied Forensic Sciences Department at Mercyhurst College, and 20 members of The Masters of Forensic & Biological Anthropology Program assisted at the scene.
