Details Released on School Van Crash; Three Seriously Injured

HUSTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – State Police have released details surrounding a DuBois School District van crash that left two adults and one child seriously injured.

According to a release issued by DuBois-based State Police Tpr. Rusnica, the accident happened Monday around 3:00 p.m. on Bennetts Valley Highway just south of Woodard Road in Huston Township, Clearfield County.

Police said a 2011 Chevrolet Express operated by Chantel L. Eliason, 31, of Reynoldsville, traveled off Bennetts Valley Highway and crashed into a tree before coming to a final rest facing south on the east side of the roadway.

Eliason and a passenger, Linda D. Hallowell, 66, of DuBois, were flown by STAT MedEvac to UPMC Altoona for treatment of serious injuries.

Tpr. Rusnica said an 11-year-old Penfield boy riding in the vehicle was also seriously injured. He was flown by LifeFlight to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.

There is no word on their current conditions.

A portion of Bennetts Valley Highway near Woodward Road was closed for several hours following the accident. It has since reopened.

Penfield Fire Department, North Point Fire Department, Jay Township Fire Department, Bennetts Valley EMS, Dubois EMS, Dusan Ambulance, PennDOT, and Bricen Towing assisted at the scene along with Pennsylvania State Police Troop C Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialist (CARS), Forensic Services Unit (FSU), and Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP).

Police say the crash remains under investigation.
