UPDATE: Woman Loses Home in Millcreek Township Structure Fire

MILLCREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Clarion County woman lost her home in a Wednesday afternoon fire in a rural, wooded area of Millcreek Township.

The fire broke out at a single-story dwelling located at the end of a long, forest road at 143 Pershing Lane.

The owner, Wendy Taylor-Chapman, had lived at this house for 19 years.

“I’m not sure what happened, but I looked up and saw the flames. I grabbed the hose, but it had burned, and I couldn’t use it,” Taylor-Chapman said. “I got the dogs out and ran to my neighbor’s [house], so he could call 911.”

Taylor-Chapman and her two Dachshunds, a 3-year-old and a 14-year-old, were unharmed.

The house was insured. She said that she would like to rebuild at the location and that she knew her neighbors would be very helpful to her.

According to a representative of Clarion County 911, the call came in at 12:04 p.m.

Six area volunteer fire companies responded to the scene, and they had more than just a fire to contend with. The lane Taylor-Chapman’s house was located on was about a half-mile off Township Road 562.

The road was muddy in places, and firefighters had to back their tanker trucks to the site of the fire.

They also employed a generator and a pump to get water from the stream behind the residence to put out the fire.

Crews on the scene included Millcreek Township, Strattanville, Farmington Township, Limestone Township, Clarion, and Sigel.

Clarion Hospital EMS was also on the scene, as well as Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Greg Agosti.

Agosti had begun to take photos of the scene and sift through the wreckage; however, a cause has not yet been determined.
