Jefferson County Woman Dead Following Two-Vehicle Crash

police_line_11WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – State Police say a Jefferson County woman died Monday evening as a result of two-vehicle accident in Washington Township.

DuBois-based State Police say the accident happened Monday around 7:28 a.m. on Stevenson Hill Road near its intersection with Airport Road (State Route 830.)

According to police, Holly D. Wray, 46, of Falls Creek, was traveling northbound on Stevenson Hill Road and failed to stop at a posted stop sign.

Wray’s 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo proceeded onto SR 830 into the path of a 2002 Dodge Dakota operated by Jeanette E. Chestnut, 46, of Brookville, pushing both vehicles off the east side of Stevenson Hill Road and over an embankment.

Police say Wray’s car spun counter-clockwise twice and collided with a stop sign before coming to a rest off the east side of Stevenson Hill Road.

Chestnut’s truck struck a guide wire before coming to a rest off the east side of the roadway.

According to police, Wray was flown by Stat MedEvac to UPMC Altoona for treatment of injuries suffered in the accident. She was pronounced dead at the hospital at 6:30 p.m.

Chestnut was transported by DuBois EMS to Penn-Highlands DuBois for treatment of minor injuries.

Both drivers were wearing safety belts, according to police.

Dusan Fire Department and Falls Creek Fire Department also assisted at the scene.

Both units were towed from the scene by Zimmerman’s Towing.
